Dell EMC The Source Podcast Episode #73: Mainframe Momentum

Dell EMC The Source Podcast Episode #73: Mainframe Momentum

Dell EMC has been helping enterprise solve mainframe storage problems for decades and is now redefining the traditional storage array; morphing it into a “Data Services Platform” that will become the bridge between the 1st and 3rd platforms to modernize and deliver the next generation of Hybrid Cloud computing and storage with the ultimate in availability, data integrity, and TCO management.

Over the past 12 months, Dell EMC has introduced primary storage models, disk library solutions, tape replacement solutions, recovery solutions and cloud enablement extensions allowing Mainframe participation in object based solutions.

In select cities, the Dell EMC Forum event series featured a Mainframe breakout track. I caught up with an old friend, Robin Fromm (@rlfromm) CTO Dell EMC Mainframe Solutions, to get the latest. For the latest mainframe developments, be sure to visit the ECN community page at www.emc.com/mainframe

The Dell EMC forum event in Dallas, Texas, September 13th 2016 represented the first “Dell EMC” marketing event, the evolution of the long standing EMC forum event services.  The Dell EMC Forum is a one-day free technology event allowing IT professionals to explore business trends, cloud directions, use cases and best practices.

This year’s Dell EMC Forum theme is appropriately, “Let The Transformation Begin”.  With an outstanding ‘Keynote Speaker” and breakout tracks including Dell EMC The Source Podcast Episode #60: Dell EMC Forum KeynoteModernize Infrastructure, Converged Systems, Workforce Transformation, Cloud Landscape, Big Data Analytics and Mainframe,  each breakout track offered 6 unique session.  That’s 36 Breakout Sessions, a Keynote, and a Partner expo along with lunch and cocktail reception!!  Not bad for a free event.  To find a Global Dell EMC Forum event near you, visit www.dellemc.com/forum

The Keynote Speaker for Dallas?  The one and only virtual geek and president of EMC Converged Product Solutions Division, Chad Sakac (@Sakacc)

I caught up with Chad right after his keynote; that interview, and the full Keynote Address is this week’s Dell EMC The Source Podcast.
