Dell EMC The Source 78 – Microsoft Azure and Azure Stack

Clouds come in many shapes, sizes and personalities.  The Microsoft Azure Stack promises to deliver to users the ability to choose the hybrid deployment that works best for them, with a common process and set of tools for Azure and Azure Stack.  As we have discussed, all clouds run on Infrastructure, and who better to deliver a fully integrated on-prem Azure Stack than Dell EMC.  This week I spent some time with Paul Galjan (@PaulGaljan), Sr. Director Microsoft Hybrid Cloud Solutions at Dell EMC.

Dell EMC The Source Episode #77

Cloud has moved from the latest buzz word to a movement.  It’s vital to both IT and Digital Transformation.  Dell EMC Customers are turning to Cloud for Application Deployments on a regular basis; but as it turns out, a cloud is really an operating model not a place.  Clouds and hybrid clouds provide the foundation for a cost-effective and successful digital transformation.  This week I spent some time with Chris Cicotte (@Chris_Cicotte), Dell EMC Cloud Portfolio Messaging Director. We talked Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, and the concept of Multi-Cloud.  For more info, check out www.dell.com/cloud, along with our latest cost study.

Organizations are increasingly looking to do more with less.  One way to achieve this objective is by transforming to a fully virtualized cloud infrastructure to deliver IT as a service to increase performance, agility and flexibility.   Microsoft Cloud based solutions provide a unique opportunity for joint EMC and Microsoft customers to leverage existing infrastructure in support of both on prem, and public cloud offerings.  EMC continues to develop architectures specific to deploying Microsoft applications in a rapid, low-cost model with “as a Service” capabilities.  These architectures leverage the convergence of virtualization, networking and EMC Storage platforms along with infrastructure that provides management, monitoring and reporting to cloud administrators.

EMC recently published two Cloud Reference Architectures based on this joint technology offering.  This week on EMC The Source, I spent some time with Paul Galjan (@PaulGaljan), functional lead for EMC Microsoft Technologies.  Both the Microsoft Cloud Reference Architecture:  Microsoft applications and Microsoft Cloud Reference Architecture: Foundation provide a blue print for deploying an EMC/Microsoft Cloud based application and infrastructure stack.
