The rapid growth of unstructured data represents a significant challenge for many enterprises across industries. As the volume and sources of data have expanded dramatically, traditional techniques to store and analyze information have proved to be too expensive and too slow to handle the massive data volumes modern enterprise product and manage.  Dell EMC Isilon is designed to directly address that challenge, taking your data lake strategy to the next level with new scale-out offerings providing breakthrough efficiency, scale and agility from edge to core to cloud.

Earlier this week at Dell EMC World, Isilon became the latest member of the Dell EMC All-Flash Portfolio. This week on Dell EMC The Source, Ed Beauvais (@EdBeauvais), Director Isilon Product Marketing stops by to talk Isilon and the impact of All-Flash for density (68 PB) and performance (25 Million IOPS). How does that translate to your workloads?  Find out this week on Dell EMC The Source.  For more visit www.emc.com/isilon

EMC The Source Episode 55 She Likes Big DataBig Data has traditionally been about the 3 V’s: “Volume, Velocity & Variety”.  The concept of Big Data has taken on different meaning to different people.  While EMC provides tremendous value to our customers via infrastructure for Big Data, the real value isn’t necessarily the data itself but what you do with it.

This week Erin Banks (@banksek) joins us to talk the real value of Big Data – and it’s not the data, it’s what you can do with it – Data Analytics that lead to business results.

The EMC Taxonomy is designed to help our customers accelerate business results.  All based on EMC industry leading products, EMC Big Data Foundation, Systems and Solutions are designed with one goal in mind.  Find more at www.emc.com/bigdata

EMC Video Surveillance Solutions

EMCTheSource Podcast Episode #29: EMC Video Surveillance Solutions

EMC teams with industry-leading video surveillance partners to provide proven, end-to-end video surveillance solutions.  Back in Episode #7, I spoke to Ken Mills (@OtherKen) and Terry Gainer, former law enforcement officer with over 30 years experience on the force.   Terry outlined the rapid growth and challenges faced by law enforcement offices in connecting, storing and managing massive amounts of data in a Video Surveillance Data Lake.

Continuing that conversation, I’m once again joined by Ken Mills (@OtherKen) to review some of EMCs joint solutions; Solutions tested and certified at the EMC Surveillance Validation Labs, renowned for conducting rigorous interoperability testing and optimized storage configuration models.

EMCs extensive partner community allows for simple and efficient Plug and Play solutions, requiring little technical configuration during deployment and operation.  Joining Ken and I this week is Steve Teitelbaum (@STeitelbaum).  Steve is the Solution Manager for Surveillance Solutions at Avnet Embedded, where he is responsible for building end to end Video Surveillance Solutions.

This week we dig into Avnet Enabled Video Surveillance Solutions.

The path to a competitive advantage is being able to make predictions from Big Data.  The more you can build predictive analytics into your business processes, the more data driven and successful your organization will become.  Taking a low risk, best-of-breed approach to quickly transform from a rigid, soiled infrastructure to a modular, agile infrastructure is critical to success.

The EMC Forum breakout session, “Redefine Big data” was focused on exactly that, leveraging Big Data for competitive advantage.   I sat down with Kevin Zawodzinski (@kzawo) after his session in Dallas.  While technology plays a big part of Big Data, organizational processes need to adapt to take advantage of the data mine.
