The Source Episode #6: Flash Storage.  If you know me, you know that I’ve spent a lot of time in the middle of EMCs Flash initiatives, as documented at www.insideflash.com. It’s only natural for me to have Dan Cobb, VP of Flash and Non-Volatile Strategy on The Source.  XtremIO is revolutionizing the way EMC customers manage and deploy application infrastructure – but XtremIO is more about software than Flash.  Flash is a storage media used by every EMC Product team. Did you know EMC has been leveraging Flash in the form of SSD for over a decade?  Dan shares some insight into how we got here, and what the future holds.  Be sure to subscribe to The Source Podcast on iTunes and Google Play.

  1. This is great! – Dan and Sam continue to cut through the BS in our industry. And here they both point the direction to a “post-NAND” world. Listening in, it is 100% crystal that HDDs is the new tape and FLASH is the new de-facto disk. And now we are getting ready for the next step: the post-SAN world where network nodes are persistent! Older concepts like “servers” and “storage” are increasingly becoming meaningless. It now is a game of DATA and the intelligent SW that drives out cost and help drive revenue. FLASH everywhere! Your phone. Your laptop. Your entertainment system. 100% FLASH VxRACK 1000… and on and on. Exciting times indeed.
