EMC: The Source Podcast Episode #15:  EMC and Oracle have partnered for more than 15 years, helping more than 80,000 customers optimize their Oracle software on EMC virtual infrastructure. EMC has invested deeply in joint engineering, Proven Solutions, and global Joint Escalation Centers making the EMC-Oracle relationship unique in the industry.  I spent some time at VMworld 2015 with Sam Lucido (@Sam_Lucido) before his breakout session: “Virtualized Oracle On All-Flash: A Customer’s Perceptive on Database Performance and Operations”.   Need more info?  Don’t miss EMCs DBA Society for details on EMC ProtectPoint, EMC OEM Plugin and EMC AppSync

EMC: The Source Podcast Episode #14:   The Federation Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Solutions provide the ability for IT to focus on business innovation rather than deploying and maintaining infrastructure, minimize provisioning times with policy-driven templates, and becomes more nimble and responsive while lowering costs.  Federation Enterprise Hybrid Cloud delivers automation and always-on Infrastructure-as-a-Service including: a full suite of data protection and security options such as high availability, disaster recovery, continuous availability, encryption and more.  End users can modify service levels at any time to adapt to changing workload demands.  Empowering end users with a self-service portal that allows access to application and IT service on-demand.  Resources that used to take months to acquire are now available in just a few clicks, and IT maintains control and visibility by setting policies for how the self-service catalog operates.

The latest version of The Federation Enterprise Hybrid Cloud was announced at VMworld 2015.  I sat down with Berna Devrim (@Berna_Devrim) and Jim Sanzone (@theSANzone) in the EMC Skybox at VMworld 2015 to get the latest.

Today’s end users are more mobile than ever and expect continuous access to business-critical information when, where, and from any device they choose.  IT must strike a balance between open, accessible infrastructure supporting collaborative, real-time, resource-intensive applications and maintain a secure environment that protects the business and its digital assets.  The Federation End-User Computing (EUC) solution offers a strategic and streamlined approach delivering simplicity, efficiency and flexibility; allowing IT to deploy and manage end user environments quickly, securely, and at the lowest cost.

The Federation End-User Computing (EUC) was announced at VMworld 2015.  I sat down with Rajeev Dawar (@VirtuallyRaj) and Tony Foster (@Wonder Nerd) before their breakout session, “Desktops: Part of a Comprehensive Cloud Strategy”, to get some insight into the announcement.

Converged Infrastructure represents a monumental shift in IT infrastructure consumption.  By grouping together multiple infrastructure components into a single optimized computing package, infrastructure can be deployed faster at a lower cost with less risk.  Converged Infrastructure decreases complexity through the use of pre-integrated hardware with virtualization and automation management tools.  VCE pioneered the development of Converged Infrastructure when it was formed by EMC, VMware, Intel and Cisco in 2009.  In 2014, EMC acquired over 90% of VCE making it a part of EMC.

John Lockyer, Americas CTO and Global Lead of Technology Consultants, has been with VCE since the beginning.   I spent some time with John at VMworld 2015 to talk about the latest trends in Converged Infrastructure and what we can expect moving forward.
